Denis Shapovalov is a Canadian professional tennis player.
In 2013, Denis won his first junior singles title at the ITF G5. Shortly after in 2014, Denis won his second singles title at the ITF G5, paving the way to his singles and doubles wins at the ITF G4 in San Jose that same year.
Establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with, Denis started his 2015 tennis season with a bang. With partner Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis captured the doubles US Junior Open. That same year, Denis Shapovalov along with Felix Auger-Aliassime and Benjamin Sigouin captured the first Junior Davis Cup in Canadian history. Late that fall, Denis won his first professional doubles title at the ITF Futures in Pensacola.
2016 has proven to be a standout year for Denis! Due to his win at Junior Wimbledon in July, Shapovalov was awarded a wildcard entry to the Rogers Cup where he upset World No. 19 Nick Kyrgios beating him in three sets to win his first tour level match. Denis has chosen to forego his final year playing as a Junior and instead focus on his professional career.
