Team Jacobs - Brad Jacobs, Ryan Fry, E.J. Harnden, and Ryan Harnden
Brad Jacobs, the current men’s Olympic champion skip, has formed the country’s most powerful men’s curling team. Bringing together Ryan Fry and brothers Ryan Harnden and E.J Harnden, Team Jacobs were the gold medal-winning representative for Canadian Curling at the Sochi 2014 Olympics.
Ryan and E.J Harnden, sons of Northern Ontario champion Eric Harnden and cousins of Brad Jacobs, were the first two members of Jacob’s team. Formed in 2009, the team represented Northern Ontario in the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Tim Horton’s Brier. With the addition of Ryan Fry, Team Jacobs found continuous success in both domestic and international competition.
The foursome began playing together in the 2012-13 season and enjoyed immediate success, winning the first Brier title for Northern Ontario since 1985 and adding a world championship silver medal. Team Jacobs posted a 7-2 round robin record in Sochi, before defeating China 10-6 in the semifinal and Great Britain 9-3 in the final to bring home gold.
Noted for being fit and athletic, Team Jacobs is starting to defy a commonplace stereotype by performing and training as top athletes. Dedicated to a new level of fitness that the sport of curling has yet to see, Team Jacobs is very much committed to a strict fitness regime and healthy lifestyle, a lifestyle that includes the use of the entire line of BioSteel products.
“We are no longer 'curlers'; we are athletes." – Team Jacobs
